Twinsburg — City voters will be asked to consider two amendents to the city’s charter, as well as the prohibition of outdoor furnaces, on the Nov. 8 ballot.
Issue 64 would prohibit outdoor furnaces within the city.
Planning and development Director Larry Finch said the ban would not be applicable to devices like grills or fire pits. He said an outdoor furnace is usually the size of a tool shed and is a free standing device meant to burn wood.
Finch said he knows of only one outdoor furnace in the city. The city sent this issue to the ballot to prevent potential pollution issues in the future.
He said it is difficult to stop people from burning other items in the furnace like rubber tires or household trash.
