This picture is of an outdoor wood furnace in Niles, Michigan -submitted as that town deliberates whether it will ban outdoor wood furnaces.  The latest studies show that wood smoke is contributing to global warming – as well as being a serious health hazard. This picture gives one a good idea of how much smoke they actually put out.
CT still does not have regulations on  outdoor wood furnaces that protect its citizens’ health.  There are 17 CT towns that have banned them – but CT has 169 towns – so there are still thousands of people unprotected in the state.  Outdoor wood furnaces are very dangerous wood burning appliances and the state must stand up to the plate and enact meaningful regulations.
